Agassiz
Dry Grad 2008

Welcome to the
Agassiz
Elementary Secondary School (AESS)
Dry Grad Website. This site is intended for parents and
guardians of Agassiz Elementary Secondary School
2008 Graduation students.
This event is arranged entirely by
AESS parents with contributions from fundraising
events and contributions from local businesses. The goal of
this event is to provide Grade 12 AESS students
with a fun, safe and memorable celebration of their
High School Graduation.
We welcome you to look through
this webpage for information about the event, how you can help
and what is being done to make AESS Dry Grad a
success.
Why is Dry
Grad so Important ?
If one alcohol related arrest, injury or
worse yet, death is prevented by this alcohol free celebration
then the extensive effort to plan and fund it will have been
well worth it – both for our graduates, their families,
friends and our community. Below are just a few of the
"Unfortunate Statistics" that can be found on the
M.A.D.D.
website:
-
The 2004 Canadian Addiction Survey
found that nearly 80% of Canadians aged 15 years or older
had consumed alcohol in the past year.
-
In 1997, 40% of 16-19 year old drivers in
Canada who were killed in crashes had been drinking.
-
In British Columbia, vehicle
crashes were the leading cause of death among children and
youth in 2003, accounting for 37% of all fatalities. In
2003, 83 youths aged 13-21 were killed in road crashes and
over 11,600 were injured.

Raffle
Fundraiser . . .

The students and parents
raised $9000.00!! With these funds and the donations
from the Agassiz-Harrison Lion's Club, Kent Raceways,
B.C. Liquor Store and the other smaller
fundraisers that have been done, we have raised enough
funds to pay for Dry Grad.
On behalf of the Students and
Parents we would like to send out . . . .
to every one who sold tickets,
purchased tickets, donated to, volunteered and supported the AESS Dry Grad
2008!!

AESS Grads, would like to say
